In Metsä Tissue we manage hygiene and product safety throughout the supply chain from product development to production and distribution.
Our tissue paper and greaseproof paper products are biodegradable and easily disposable. This means that after using them, you can compost or recycle them or burn them for energy.
Organic disposal of tissue paper along with other biodegradable materials offers the added advantage of reducing odour emissions. Incineration of used tissue paper, in turn, reduces the volume of wastepaper deposited at landfills. Toilet paper is disposed of naturally along with municipal waste water, normally via the community's sewage treatment system.
All our packaging – which is essential to keep our products safe and hygienic –is fully recyclable. We make a policy of buying our packaging materials from companies that are certified to ISO 14001 environmental and ISO 9001 quality standards. We expect all our suppliers to minimize their environmental burden, to continuously improve their environmental performance and to implement an environmental management system complying with ISO 14001 or similar standards.
Metsä Tissue's Katrin dispensers are made for long term use and they are easy to recycle at the end. Also, Metsä Tissue has already replaced all black plastic parts with recycled materials. In the future, company aims to use as much recycled material in the dispensers as possible.
