Tissue paper products are easily diposable
With waste water
Bathroom tissue is the main tissue product used in households. In most cases, disposal is via the community's sewage treatment system. The fibre content of bathroom tissue is in many cases beneficial to the dewatering capacity of the sewage treatment plant.
Burning
Used tissue paper towels can be burned for energy. Tissue paper is bio fuel and often can replace fossil fuels. Burning reduces the amount of wastepaper going into landfill.
Composting
Tissue paper, such as kitchen towels and hand towels, can be composted with other biodegradable materials. The organic material is converted into carbon dioxide, nutrients and humus in the same way as nature deals with other biodegradable materials. Adding paper to bio waste also reduces odour emissions.
